SURVIVING THE SPECTRUM

Surviving the Spectrum is a first-of-its-kind short documentary that explores the intersection of autism and suicidality through the experiences of those living with autism in Oklahoma. Suicide is a growing epidemic within our population whose diagnostic numbers continue to increase yearly, highlighting the need for more research, visibility, and advocacy.

As a filmmaker and AFO board member, I saw the value in this project, and as the father of an autistic teenager, I saw the need for it. Film has always been a vehicle for change and advocacy, and I can’t wait to see how far this reaches.
— Dave Smith, Producer & Director of Photography
